  English speaking pharmacy and medical centre. Beware of being told you need to see doctor even when you have only a minor ailment when asking for something over the counter. Medical centre has a range of different specialists and doctors and my experience of that side, has always been good. Its a business at the end of the day, so they have to make money, just be cautious.

  I went into the pharmacy to ask the girl at the counter for an eye drops for an infected eye before I actually told her what I needed she was ushering me down stairs to see a Dr. I then spoke with an English receptionist explained exactly what I need she said I needed to see a Dr. AT THE COST OF €150, I was brought into a treatment room only to be assessed by a Spanish Dr with very little English only to say I needed intravenous antibiotics (flucloxacillin) I refused immediately as she obviously had not a clue what she was doing as Flucloxacillin is normally used for respiratory infections.

  I did return to this so called Excellent Medical centre to challenge the fee they had charged me I was fobbed off till the next day to see the manager which never did turn up, BUT I did get €100.00 euros back which I really should have got €150.

  Excellent is right! Everything is taken care of by really obliging receptionist in Adege. She could not have been more helpful. Very impressed.

  Staff very pleasant, especially when they hit you with a 770 Euro bill for treating an infected mosquito bite. A similar treatment in a private clinic in Barcelona cost just 65 Euro two years ago. The centre is located adjacent to luxury apartments, and they obviously play on the fact that people who go there can afford their "Excellent Medical" care. Patients about to be administered treatment and who asked for an estimate were advised by doctors that they could not say. We entrusted ourselves to the staff based on our experience in Barcelona and were definitely treated like the couple of gullible pensioners that we obviously are. Needless to say our UK holiday insurance would not cover such an exorbitant cost, and advised us not to bother applying for compensation, referring to the terms of their "private treatment" get-out clause. EHIC Card? To be fair, although we had one we never bothered going through the rigmarole of asking whether they would accept it, as we thought the bill would be similar to that in Barcelona. So it's one star for this establishment, although the staff should be given 5 stars for their ability to start treating you before you have time to query as to what they are doing is really necessary. Two sessions of intravenous drips at 770 Euro and 55 Euro worth of medication for an insect bite is about as steep as it gets.

  I have the medical centers own insurance and have found it perfect for general health care. I use the private insurance they provide. English is spoken so don't need a translator and if I need extra specific help I also use the social doctor but you do need a translator. Really useful and quick for appointments.

  She insisted this is what I nneeded and I refused more adamantly getting up to go, at this stage she called the English receptionist who came in and they started talking Spanish between them, I said to the English receptionist that all I need was Chloramphenicol eye drops. Eventually they gave me a script for the drops which cost me only €3.20. I left very unhappy, the next day after my eye felt a lot better I went to the next small town (10 min drive) and bought the same product over the counter in the chemist for the same price no script needed. So not only did they rob me they also lied to me about been able to buy this over the counter and were happy to inject me with an antibiotic that was of no use to me.
